ThunderHacks

Overview

ThunderHacks is a 24-hour student-led hackathon hosted by Algoma University where you can build, collaborate, and compete. It's designed to be a platform for creativity and technology, perfect for both experienced developers and beginners. You'll get to learn new frameworks and build projects that aim to solve real-world problems.

Requirements

This hackathon is open to Algoma University students who are of legal age. You can participate solo or in teams of 2 to 4 members. Projects must be built from scratch during the hackathon, meaning work started before March 14, 2026, is not eligible. To be considered for prizes, you'll need to submit a project name and tagline, a brief description of your project, a 2-minute demo video, a link to your public GitHub repository, and explain the most challenging part of your build.

Prizes

There's a total prize pool of $1,500 in cash. The first-place winner will receive $750, second place gets $500, and third place receives $250.
