Octoverse Hackathon
Overview
The Octoverse Hackathon is an online, global event for students to build meaningful solutions across software development, AI, data science, and more. It provides a collaborative environment to explore ideas, learn new skills, and develop functional prototypes for real-world challenges. The hackathon encourages innovation, technical ability, and practical implementation.
Requirements
This hackathon is open to students worldwide who are above the legal age of majority in their country. Teams can be formed, but companies and professional organizations are not eligible. You'll need to submit a project that aligns with the hackathon themes, including a detailed description, a working prototype or implementation, and ideally a link to your source code repository. Supporting materials like a presentation, documentation, or a demo video are also recommended. All work must be original and developed during the hackathon period.

The hackathon offers over $4,950 in cash prizes. The First Place winner, the Octoverse Champion, receives $2,000, an Official Winner Certificate, featured placement, and a Premium Swag Kit. The Second Place Runner-Up gets $1,200, a Runner-Up Certificate, and a Swag Kit. The Third Place Merit Award winner receives $750, a Merit Certificate, and a Swag Kit. Additionally, there are 10 Theme-Based Awards of $100 each, along with participation certificates and swag boxes for many winners.
