OAHL Hardware Hack: Build the Agent-to-Hardware Interface Layer

Overview

The OAHL Hardware Hack challenges students to bridge the gap between AI agents and physical hardware by building agent-to-hardware interface layers using the Open Agent Hardware Layer (OAHL) protocol. You'll connect AI to real devices like Raspberry Pis or webcams and showcase creative use cases.

Requirements

This hackathon is open to students above the legal age of majority worldwide; companies and professional organizations are not eligible. To participate, you must build and demonstrate at least one OAHL adapter for an unsupported device or an AI agent that uses OAHL to control real physical hardware. Submissions require a code repository link with setup instructions, your approved OAHL registry URL, and a demo video (up to 30 minutes) showcasing the complete agent-to-hardware flow in real-time with actual hardware. Simulated hardware is not acceptable for the final submission.

Prizes

There are four non-cash prizes. The first-place winner will have their adapter featured prominently in the official OAHL registry and marketplace, receive a dedicated blog post, and gain social media spotlights. Second place gets their adapter included in the OAHL registry, a project blog article, and social mentions. Third place will have their adapter in the registry and be credited in OAHL documentation. All valid submissions that correctly implement the OAHL protocol will receive a contributor badge and be listed in the OAHL community adapters index.
