NeurIPS - Ariel Data Challenge 2025
Overview
This competition challenges you to develop models that can clean noisy telescope data to detect faint chemical traces in exoplanet atmospheres. You'll work with simulated data from ESA's Ariel mission, building on the 2024 competition with more realistic data and new challenges.
Requirements
Your submission must be a Kaggle Notebook predicting the mean and uncertainty for exoplanet spectra. The submission file needs a specific format with 'planet_id', spectra, and uncertainties. Notebooks must run within 9 hours (CPU or GPU) with internet access disabled. Freely available external data and pre-trained models are allowed.
Prizes
The competition offers a total of $50,000 in prizes. First place wins $15,000, second place receives $10,000, third place gets $8,000, fourth place wins $7,000, and fifth and sixth place each receive $5,000. The competition awards Kaggle points and medals. Top participants may also be invited to present at the NeurIPS workshop and the Ariel Consortium Meeting.
