MariaDB Hackathon Malaysia 2026

Overview

This hackathon challenges students and professionals to build cool solutions using MariaDB, focusing on areas like AI, data integration, and analytics. You'll be creating working prototypes that use MariaDB as the main database to solve real problems in smart campuses, public services, education, or sustainability.

Requirements

You need to be between 13 and 60 years old and form a team of 2 to 5 members. This hackathon is specifically for participants from UPTM, HELP University, and Asia Pacific University, and is invite only. Your project must use MariaDB as the primary database and show how you're using data effectively. You'll need to submit a project description, problem statement, source code link, and details about how MariaDB is used. A demo video is optional but recommended.

Prizes

There are four non-cash prizes. The first prize includes RM 2,000 cash and a participation certificate from the MariaDB Foundation. The second prize is RM 1,000 cash and a certificate, and the third prize is also RM 1,000 cash and a certificate. Additionally, nine winners will receive a MariaDB Foundation Certificate, with three certificates awarded per university.
