Kiroween

Overview

This hackathon challenges you to build creative software using Kiro, an AI-powered IDE, for Halloween-themed ideas. You can bring old technologies back to life, combine different tools into one app, create flexible code templates, or design a spooky user interface. The goal is to see how you use Kiro's features like vibe coding, specs, hooks, and steering to push boundaries.

Requirements

Participants must be above the legal age of majority in their country and can join from anywhere except countries with standard exceptions. Your project must be a working software application and you'll need to submit a public code repository containing a /.kiro directory, a URL to your functional application, and a three-minute demonstration video. You also need to identify your category and write about how Kiro was used. For the Skeleton Crew category, your repo must include two separate application folders.

Prizes

There's a total of $100,000 in cash prizes. The top three overall winners will receive $30,000, $20,000, and $10,000 respectively. There are also category prizes of $5,000 each for Best Resurrection, Best Frankenstein, Best Skeleton Crew, and Best Costume Contest. Additional bonuses include $10,000 for Best Startup Project, $2,500 for Most Creative, $1,000 for Influencer Judges' Choice, and smaller cash prizes for Social Blitz and Blog Post submissions.
