Overview

KingHacks is an industry-backed AI hackathon where participants can build solutions using tools from AWS, IBM, and Backboard.io, or focus on civic projects for the Mayor's Office. The event emphasizes career opportunities, internships, and creating real-world impact.

Requirements

This hackathon is open to individuals aged 16 and older, but participation is limited to specific countries. You'll need to register via a mandatory Luma page link. Participants receive track details, datasets, and tools one week before the event to start building. The hackathon culminates on January 16, 2026.

Prizes

The hackathon features a prize pool of over CAD $13,900. Specific prizes include CAD $1,000 in AWS Credits plus mentorship for the AWS Track, CAD $500 for any restaurant in Kingston for the Backboard.io Track, and a finalist presentation at Kingston City Hall for the Mayor's Innovation Track. The IBM track prizes are TBD. Additionally, the overall winning team receives CAD $1,600, and there are prizes involving ElevenLabs subscriptions for various winners.
