HackViolet 2026

Overview

HackViolet 2026 is a 24-hour hackathon focused on empowering women in technology and addressing the gender gap. Hosted by Virginia Tech's Association for Women in Computing, it welcomes all participants to use their coding skills to innovate and inspire. It's a beginner-friendly event with workshops, networking opportunities, and prizes.

Requirements

This hackathon is open to college students from all countries, excluding standard exceptions. You need to register and check in to be eligible for prizes. An initial project submission is due by 9:30 AM EST on February 1, 2026, and final submissions, including a 2-minute demo video and a public GitHub link, are due by 11:00 AM EST on February 1, 2026. Make sure your code and video links are publicly accessible.

Prizes

There are 10 non-cash prizes available, including an iPad Air for 'Best Overall', an Apple Watch Series 10 for 'Best Hack to Support Women', and Sony XM5 Headphones for 'Best UI/UX Design Hack'. There are also prizes for 'Best First Time Hack' (Nintendo Switch), and sponsor-specific prizes like gift cards from Capital One, and tech gear from MLH for using Gemini API, Solana, Vultr, ElevenLabs, and Snowflake API.
