HackRice 15

Overview

Join over 500 hackers at Rice University for HackRice 15, their 15th annual fall hackathon. This event is your chance to build and showcase awesome projects, collaborate with fellow hackers, attend technical workshops, and connect with industry leaders. You can explore themes like Fintech, Health, and Machine Learning/AI.

Requirements

Participants must be above the legal age of majority in their country of residence, and all countries and territories are welcome, except for standard exceptions. Prior to the Devpost submission deadline on September 21, 2025, teams need to submit a 3-4 minute video demo. This video should include an introduction to the project, a demonstration of the project in action, a brief overview of the technical design, and a discussion of its real-world impact and future improvements.

Prizes

There is over $10,200 in cash and other prizes available. Top Overall Project winners will receive a Meta RayBans for first place, a DJI Neo drone for second, and a Lego Ferrari F1 car for third. Additional prizes include cash for the Social Impact Track ($200), a gaming monitor and mechanical keyboard for the Healthcare Track, gift cards for the Productivity and Education Track, an electric scooter for the Finance & Entrepreneurship Track, and various tech gadgets and swag for special categories like Best Use of MongoDB Atlas, Auth0, Gemini API, Cloudflare, Commure Healthcare Challenge, Capital One Best Financial Hack, TwelveLabs, and Warp Best Developer Tool. Lillie Lab AI Challenge winners (Rice students only) will receive Amazon gift cards and Lilie Launchpad acceptance.
