Hack the Valley X

Overview

Hack the Valley X is a 36-hour hackathon happening from October 3rd to October 5th, 2025, bringing together students to innovate and create impactful projects. You'll have the chance to participate in workshops, activities, and develop a project to impress the judges. This event celebrates its 10th iteration and aims to foster innovation, impact, and imagination.

Requirements

This hackathon is open to students aged 16 and older, and participants can join from any country, excluding standard exceptions. You should build a project you're passionate about or one that solves a current issue. To submit, you need to provide a written explanation of your project, including why you built it, your tech stack, and a summary of what it does. A link to your GitHub project code is also required for judging. For presentation, teams will have 5 minutes to pitch their product to the judges, followed by a 2-3 minute Q&A session.

Prizes

There are over $CAD 1,000 in cash prizes, plus many other exciting awards. The top three places receive significant prizes: 1st place gets a MetaQuest 3s VR Set and various subscriptions and credits, 2nd place wins an Apple Watch SE with subscriptions, and 3rd place gets Samsung Galaxy Buds. There are also numerous category-specific prizes, including a VR set, PS5 controller, gaming headset, drawing tablet, Pokémon plush, SodaStream, mystery prizes, an IBM Swag Bag, an EY Canada Core Banking Team interview opportunity, and Google and ElevenLabs branded gear.
