GenAI Genesis 2026

Overview

GenAI Genesis 2026 is Canada's largest AI hackathon, bringing together students to build impactful AI-powered solutions. Whether you're new to hacking or experienced, you can connect with mentors, use cutting-edge tools, and work with industry leaders. The event includes both in-person and virtual participation options.

Requirements

This hackathon is open to participants aged 13 and older from all countries. Teams are required. For submissions, you'll need a comprehensive write-up including your project's inspiration, the technology stack (languages, frameworks, platforms, tools), and a product summary. You must also provide a link to a public GitHub repository with your project's code, ensuring no commits were made before the hackathon started. Virtual hackers follow the same guidelines but compete in separate virtual prize categories.

Prizes

There are over $CAD 20,000 in cash prizes and other awards available. Specific prizes include DJI 4K Drones for the best financial fraud detection hack, projectors for the best health care hack using Agentic AI, gaming chairs for the best production-ready AI tool, and keyboards for the best AI application using efficient memory. There are also prizes for community impact, sustainability, IBM technology use, demo quality, hardware hacks, and top teams, with some prizes designated for in-person or online participants only.
