Dakar Bitcoin Hack

Overview

The Dakar Bitcoin Hack is a month-long online event focused on creating tools that improve the lives of Senegalese people using the Bitcoin protocol. Participants will develop innovative business and technical solutions, with organizers aiming to contribute to the FOSS Bitcoin ecosystem and source an incubation program.

Requirements

This hackathon requires teams of 2 to 5 members, all of whom must be above the legal age of majority in their country of residence. The event is open to students worldwide. Solutions should be Bitcoin-centered and address local or regional needs, examples include wallets, learning tools, exchanges, contributions to Bitcoin Core or Lightning, Nostr messaging apps, NWC authentication, or Bitcoin & AI projects. Submissions must include a presentation, a working prototype, MVP, or PoC, and at least a Bitcoin/Lightning wallet implementation.

Prizes

The Dakar Bitcoin Hack offers $1,750 in cryptocurrency prizes. The first-place winner will receive $1,000 in BTC, second place will get $500 in BTC, and third place will be awarded $250 in BTC.
