BioHackathon Edinburgh 2026
Overview
This hackathon challenges participants to collaborate on real-world biological and computational problems, focusing on building a Bio-AI innovation community. You can choose between academic research, industrial innovation, or a non-coder problem-solving track. The event is part of a larger initiative to connect research with real-world application.
Requirements
Teams should have between 4 to 6 members. Participants must be above the legal age of majority and are limited to specific countries, with companies and professional organizations excluded. The event welcomes undergraduate and postgraduate students, postdocs, academic staff, and recent graduates from UK universities. No coding experience is required for the non-coder track. Prizes
There are 3 non-cash prizes provided by sponsors, with details to be announced at the opening. One winner will receive a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W kit for the 'Best Use of AI Agents on Arm' challenge. Another winner will receive 'Shark Plushes' for their team in the 'Hackiest Hack' category for an over-engineered and creative project. Additional prizes will be awarded at the closing ceremony.
