BigQuery AI - Building the Future of Data

Overview

This hackathon challenges you to build solutions using BigQuery's AI capabilities to process unstructured or mixed-format data. You can use BigQuery's Generative AI, Vector Search, and Multimodal features to solve real-world business problems. The goal is to show how AI within BigQuery can handle complex data beyond traditional rows and columns.

Requirements

Teams should build a working prototype using at least one of the three approaches: AI Architect (Generative AI in SQL or BigFrames), Semantic Detective (Vector Search in SQL or BigFrames), or Multimodal Pioneer (Multimodal Features in SQL or BigFrames). Submissions must include a Kaggle Writeup with a public notebook clearly showing the implementation. An optional public video or blog is highly recommended. A user survey is optional but provides bonus points. Teams are limited to one submission, which can be un-submitted and re-submitted before the deadline.

Prizes

There are significant prizes available, with a total of $100,000 up for grabs. Awards include $15,000 for first place in Generative AI, Vector Search, and Multimodal tracks, $9,000 for second place, and $6,000 for third place in each track. There are also two Honorable Mentions, each receiving $5,000. The hackathon does not award Kaggle points or medals.
