Overview

The Biggest Little Hackathon 2026, hosted by ACM UNR, is an annual event for student developers to gain experience and showcase their skills. You can build projects in categories like App Development, Game Development, and AI, or discover two secret categories revealed on launch day. It's a great chance to connect with sponsors like Bently Nevada and Microsoft.

Requirements

This hackathon is exclusively for UNR students who are college students and above the legal age of majority. You must submit a working demo of your project, along with a description of what you built, the problem it solves, and how it functions. Make sure to include a link to your source code repository, any relevant documentation, and a short demo video or screenshots. The project should be completable within the 40-hour timeframe.

Prizes

There is a total of $5,000 in cash prizes. Awards include $700 for the Best Game Project, Best App Project, Best AI Project, and an AI Assisted System Health Monitor. There's also $600 for the 1st Place Project, $350 for the Best Novice Project, $450 for the People's Choice Winner, and $400 each for the Mystery Category and Best UI/UX.
